What are manga and anime?

Here's a lengthy one. (Pardon me for the length and the way it wanders; I was writing chain-of-thoughts :)

Some people may think "Manga are Japanese comics which is true. Anime can be described as an example of the Japanese anime version.

Anime is generally, however, not always an animated adaptation of a manga that is popular." This is partially true. However, it could be confusing. (Note the fact that "anime" is used in Japan technically refers to any film that is animated, and "manga" means any cartoon printed, but those in the rest of the world assume that they are comics or animated films that originate from Japan.)
